It must be 15 years since I was last at Brimham Rocks in Nidderdale, and I didn’t recognise any of the gritstone outcrops, eroded by wind, water and glaciers. The Anvil, the Turtle, the Sphynx. None was familiar. These shape shifting rocks must have changed over the intervening years . But then, out of the mist, appeared a familiar sight appeared. Identical to that on the National Trust’s Roseberry property. Same title, same byline. “Many people look but only a few see”. All I see is a piece of scrap metal. An abomination. Why the need to enhance an already beautiful landscape? And in any case surely ‘art’ is somewhat depreciated by mere duplication.

Quite agree Mick – it adds nothing to the natural beauty
