Still on the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Camas an Lighe is more commonly known as the Singing Sands although I am not sure if that is a literal translation.
But they didn’t sing for us. We had expected a coral beach that does ‘sing’ indeed when you walk on it. Carraig Fhada on Islay is a good example. Perhaps they have lost their voice by the tons of explosives used by Commandos during their WW2 training. There are plenty of notices around warning of unexploded ordnances.
Or perhaps they lost their voice out of embarrassment at the antics of the contestants of the 2017 reality TV show ‘Eden: Paradise Lost‘ which was staged just over the headland.
