Walked into Bransdale Mill yesterday with a Duke of Edinburgh training group in what turned out to be a glorious day. The journey out today turned interesting. The cross known as Young Ralph is probably medieval and to me always looks better in wintry conditions. It is perhaps best known as the logo of the North York Moors National Park.
Bransdale Mill is a super bunkhouse owned by the National Trust. A relaxing place but with no mobile reception in the valley, some of the students were somewhat frustrated as Middlesbrough had been playing that afternoon and they were keen to find out the score. There is a payphone, but the ancient technology defeated the students. It needed coins. Eventually, they were helped out. Middlesbrough lost.
