A few moments later it was snowing

Well, it was white and it was falling from the sky. I’m not sure if the Inuit, with their fifty words for snow, would have one for the snow that fell over Capt. Cook’s Monument early this morning but the Scots do have a nice word flindrikin usually a light, flimsy garment but which was used in the Orkneys to describe a slight snow-shower. Seems to fit the bill.

  1. Hi, I came across a lovely image of Whorlton Castle on one of your archive posts and wondered if you would be willing to allow us to use this in our free annual guide to the North York Moors National Park 2019. It would only be small in a listing of places to visit but we would include a credit next to the image. I’d be most grateful if you could let me know either way. Many thanks and kind regards.
