The Light: Conspiracy Bile Delivered Direct to Your Letterbox

There I was, about to embark on my virtuous trek up Roseberry Topping, coat in hand, when a free newspaper crashed through the letterbox like an unwelcome guest. A relic of a bygone era, I thought, since such things had ceased to grace my street years ago. Still, the design carried a whiff of credibility, enough to spark curiosity. A quick search on Google revealed its Wikipedia entry, and with it, a deep well of disgust.

The Light

This masterpiece of misinformation is apparently a monthly publication devoted to conspiracy theories and assorted drivel. It denies COVID-19, disputes climate change, embraces antisemitism, and espouses far-right rhetoric with an alarming popularity, across the UK1Hop Not Hate. https://hopenothate.org.uk/case-files-the-light/. Usually peddled in cities, it seems the paper has now infiltrated the pastoral peace of villages like mine.

As I climbed Roseberry, my thoughts festered. Delivering this rag felt like an invasion of privacy. Unlike the fleeting nuisance of a social media post, this rubbish had physically entered my home, uninvited.

Called The Light—oh, the irony—it was founded in 2020 by a “flat-earther,” no less, and gained traction during anti-vaccine protests. It is handed out for free, yet who foots the bill for this bile-ridden propaganda remains a worrying mystery to me. Its initial pandemic hysteria has blossomed into a broader culture war, railing against “woke” ideologies and peddling anti-trans nonsense. For good measure, it mixes in extreme leftist views, such as pro-Gaza rants, to ensure it alienates and inflames everyone equally.

The content is a buffet of lunacy, from Holocaust denial to calls for executing medical professionals, all seasoned with a dash of white supremacy. It is journalism at its most depraved, now conveniently delivered to the unsuspecting public’s doorstep. A charming development, truly.

Roseberry Topping – sounds like a tasty part of somebody’s dessert .

Maybe your next mailing will be a far-left rhetoric rag to balance the nonsense .

Not heard of the Light – it sounds pretty grim. As you say who is paying for it? There does seem to be a sustained effort to push the country in this direction. But i do doubt that what has happened in Palestine has anything to with the far left. Probably the opposite. A human tragedy all round.
