A scenic view from a grassy, heather-covered hillside looking toward the distinctive conical peak of Roseberry Topping in the distance under a cloudy sky. In the foreground, a low, rocky outcrop is marred by black spray-painted graffiti, including the letters "ZS" circled on one of the large stones.

Beyond Apathy — Learning to Care Again

Appreciation of nature arrives like sunrise through a dark forest. What was once the shadow of youth becomes colour. Grass, rock, heather all minding their own business, doing it well. For the moment the world makes sense and you do too. You are small, but not spare. You fit. That is enough.

Then, darkness returns. Not natural dark, but some mindless damage. Wounds cut by human hands, still raw. The truth surfaces: whoever made this mess, we have all bled the earth dry. Once-joyful places now seem to cry out.

Now comes the question. Do you shut down, look away, smother feeling with apathy? That would surely mock the clarity you have just found. Or do you lie to yourself, pretend not to see?

There is another path. Step up. Heal. Become the one who tends rather than turns away. Society is not wicked, just sick. Disconnected. Feed it with care. Act with purpose. Change follows.
