A few tentative steps down the village. With a heightened sense of awareness of, while not major obstacles, they are nevertheless unwelcome. Slippy rotting leaves, inconsiderate parking blocking half the pavement, dog crap, indeed the mere anxiety of a frisky dog even if on a lead. “He won’t hurt you”. A realisation of the problems faced daily by the elderly and less-mobile.
The photo is of the River Leven where it runs parallel to the High Street, once the centre of the village, and overlooked by the former 18th-century Presbyterian chapel, known as Hinmers Chapel after a minister of that name, now a private residence.
