Anniversary Waltz

Some couples for their wedding anniversary go out for a romantic meal, others give each other the traditional gifts according to the year (cotton for 1st, paper for 2nd etc.). Wynn and Steve organise a fell race. And have done so for the last nineteen years. The Anniversary Waltz Fell Race starts at Stair, near Keswick in the Lake District and takes in the summits of Robinson, Hindscarth, Dale Head, High Spy and Catbells, a distance of 11½ miles with 3,599 feet of climb. The winning time is typically about 1 hour 45 minutes.

The photo was taken from well down the field showing runners ahead climbing Blea Crags on the initial ascent of Robinson. Good clear weather with little wind. An excellent day in the fells.
