A longing look at a sea fret

But first, Live Moor, east of Birk Brow, a sad patch of heather moorland, scarred by generations of motorcyclists, and, in the 17th-century, by poor Jenny Frisk when she was ducked in a witch trial. Today her name lives on as a ‘green lane’, prone to fly-tipping.

It’s shortly after 8 and another hot day is beckoning. Along the coast at Loftus, a sea fret, or haar, looks welcoming. The wind turbines, I think at Kilton, are motionless.
