Holly Tree Wall

That holly tree must be at least 35 years old. I remember it being there when I climbed a route on this face on Park Nab.

The large flat field left of centre is a former cricket pitch. The Kildale Cricket Club was founded in 1902, and this field was offered to the club by Major Turton of Kildale Hall who was its President. In about 1947/8, the club moved to its present site on the Commondale Road opposite the road to New Row. Tom Proud, a stalwart of the club and who was brought up at Sleddale, recalls seeing the old pavilion sawn into two and moved on the back of a milk wagon to the new field1Anthony, Cedric. “Glimpses of Kildale History”.
