Out & About …

… on the North York Moors, or wherever I happen to be.

A pluviose start to the day.
But it turned out nice in the end.

And there’s a couple of seals in the bay.But neither are wearing an orange swimming hat.

One thing I was very uneasy with is the number of spring traps throughout the island. They seem to be everywhere, I counted three on our 3km walk down to the bay. They were installed by the Orkney Native Wildlife Project in an attempt to eradicate the stoats which are not native to the island. If I recall the internet article I read, the stoats were first discovered in 2010 and could decimate the ground nesting bird population. There are fears that the stoats will spread to the other 70 plus islands in the archipelago.
