January

February
A British businessman in Brighton was the first to be diagnosed with coronavirus after catching it in Singapore.
March
Cheltenham Races goes ahead.
“We have a simple message to all countries – test, test, test,” Director-General of the WHO.
Mass community testing ended.
“We can turn the tide within the next 12 weeks and I’m absolutely confident that we can send coronavirus packing in this country but only if we take the steps — we all take the steps — that we have outlined.” – Boris Johnson.
We are told that we “must” stay at home and certain businesses must close. Lockdown had begun.
April
Dominic Cummings pops up to Barnard Castle for an eye test.
Matt Hancock sets a target of carrying out 100,000 tests a day by the end of the month
Captain Tom Moore walks 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday.
May
“We will have a test, track and trace operation that will be world-beating, and yes, it will be in place – it will be in place by June 1.” – Boris Johnson.
Johnson told MPs that maintaining the visa surcharge for overseas health care staff was “the right thing to do”.
