Out & About …

… on the North York Moors, or wherever I happen to be.

Guillemots

Magnificent sea birds which spend most of their time at sea, only coming to land to nest on the sea cliffs where level ground is at a premium.

At the RSPB Fowlsheugh Reserve just south of Stonehaven. The name Fowlsheugh actually means “bird cliff” so it is quite appropriate.

Mick, we are intrigued by your “Fhithich” name! Are you Biodan Fhithich, Creag-an-Fhithich, Cragan an Fhithich? Or all of these Fhithiches rolled into one Fhithich?
We enjoy seeing your photos and reading your blogs.

Trust you are both well. Fhithich is Gaelic for raven although there is a bit of variation in the spelling. See http://www.fhithich.uk/?p=8031

PS I’ve been told in Gaelic an ‘h’ after the consonants ‘f’ and ‘t’ renders them silent but the ‘ch’ is pronounced hard as in ‘loch’.
